If we are discussing globalization as it relates to the “free” market, rampant fascist capitalism and global privatization then “stupid” is not a word that leaps to mind. Depraved, unconscionable, inhuman and remorseless are a few adjectives I would deem appropriate. As to “killing our way of life”, if we may apply this to our entire species rather than just the populations of those nations indoctrinated to unrestrained consumerism then I would say it was a fair assessment.
The relatively small number of rapacious, pathologically greedy individuals who actually benefit from globalization, I am sure would beg to differ. When one is rapt in the obsessive worship of money and power with utterly no concern for the consequences to others the results are likely to be disastrous. In such circumstances there is little recourse beyond violent rebellion. This scenario has been repeated ad infinitum since bands of early hominids first abandoned the nomadic lifestyle.
If, however, we were to shift the globalization paradigm to one which embraces a world society in which all members work in harmony for the common good, we would be discussing quite another topic. That particular scenario, in my humble opinion, would be one well worth implementing, unlike the current cancerous and probably terminal policy being pursed by the rabid money worshippers now running amok throughout the world.
